natural soul— (狐)

The "kitsune", or fox demon, is said to possess great intelligence, long life, and supernatural powers. They're shape-shifters that take the form of humans and harass them, often returning kindness with goodwill and malice with malice.

Takasugi's Shifted Carnivora form is a massive bakegitsune with three tails—a deceptive creature with teeth that can shoot fire from any tail. Two of the tails, though, are fake, where he uses trickery to create the perception of him having two extra tails. He's quick to run out of energy in this form, despite trying to look so fierce. Like his human self, his fur is a mix of whites and amaryllis reds.

When Half-Shifted, his face contorts into being more vulpine, fur spreading across his lower stomach, upper arms, and neck. The canines in his mouth elongate, becoming finer points as fire threatens to dance at his fingertips. The coloring of any fox fur is pretty much the same.

Takasugi has a tendency to Shift when experiencing some overwhelming emotion. Given he tends to fuck around, this includes whenever he's super excited over something.

CORRUPTIOn—

⤷ APRIL 2025:
- Reflective eye-layer that gives the "carnivore" eye-shine at night.
- Long, clawed nails.
- Decreased drive for anything that isn't a meat product.
- Urge to chase things increasing... Though that's his usual.

- Per frequent Shifting, he now has fox ears atop his head. The base is sensitive to the touch.

- Can charm humanoids outright with little difficulty.
- Hands and feet are now partially soot-colored, like the "socks" of a red fox.
- Pack mentality in full-swing, at least with those he's close to. The urge to be cloying and overprotective knows no bounds.
- Combative mood-swings, also in full-swing. But that can be his usual depending...

⤷ AUGUST 2025:
- Sclera will turn completely black when extremely stressed or cornered.
- Obsessive urge to mark his interests with his teeth, or scent.
- Even just witnessing blood will be stimulating.
- Fox-like genital organs. Don't worry about it.
- The ability to produce fox-fire from his hands. This can be used to either light the way, or literally set something on fire. Whichever is more fun.

ABOUT.

Born into a prestigious family, Takasugi Shinsaku was a samurai of the Choshu domain who contributed significantly to the Meiji Restoration. He was a maverick, a patriot, and an absolute handful of a prodigy who studied under a famous teacher of military tactics, Yoshida Shouin, whose execution would set-off this exceptionally unconventional man's radical spirit.

Though he seems calm and collected at first, in reality, Takasugi is a notorious troublemaker of a Servant with a wild temperament, willing to do anything to achieve the most entertaining outcome. His drive to innovate, or alter things in the name of change, may initially appear revolutionary, but Takasugi will assert that whether he is viewed as a hero or a villain depends on one's perspective in history. His cunning and intelligence take chip damage from his own need to fuck around and find out, as it were.

Takasugi's here for a good time, not a long time, and he certainly acts like it. Any weakness is pushed aside, hidden beneath fingernails and smiles and behind closed doors. He doesn't like to be seen, to be accused of some personal fault. "Weakness is for the birds. It's no fun." But if one pays attention, they might notice when his eyes lack their glimmering shine, or when he needs a particularly long moment alone to wipe blood from his mouth.

All said, Takasugi is as Servant as any other and will lead the way to victory. He took to heart his mentor's teachings, in that "nothing is steadfast but the will, nothing endures but one's achievements", and so he will do what he does best in the craziest fashion possible: strike like a thunderclap, and kill all the crows to sleep with you in the morning.

Demeanor. Annoying. Pushy. And yet, at the same time—collected. Takasugi is very casual, very laidback by all appearances even as things hit the fan. He embodies the phrase of his death poem in his attitude, "live interesting in an uninteresting world", in that he'll gleefully abandon pragmatism for whatever side seems the most entertaining.

Independent Action (B). The ability to act independently with the absence of one's Master, or mana supply for about two days. Noble Phantasm use is not possible at this level. ( KARTERIA: * THIS SKILL IS DEFUNCT in the applicable setting, as he will be walking around with a "temporary" human body that doesn't rely on mana and won't let him diffuse himself into energy. The power of a Natural Soul will substitute. )
Hero of Reform - Eccentric (B). After navigating the chaotic final days of the shogunate and playing a part in the Meiji Restoration, this is a special skill for... Takasugi?! A form of low-level charisma that likely has to do with his Singularity.
Unprecedented Child Prodigy (A). An unfinished masterpiece, or diamond in the rough. A phrase coined by someone special about Takasugi, who blazed through the end of the Edo period like a shining star. What this skill means is currently up in the air until the materials book is released.
Innovate: Armament Reformation (B). The ability to modify one's armaments, and the armaments of one's army, to the latest equipment of that era. Most likely tied to his actual Noble Phantasm, as it is a skill derived from the way the Kiheitai, his self-made militia in life, were said to overwhelm the Shogunate's forces with the latest tools and their daring tactics. His left eye can also analyze something to determine its makeup. Don't ask me how that works.
My Japanese Spirit Will Live on Forever (A). A line from his teacher Yoshida Shouin's death poem that inspires Takasugi to stand up against tough situations and narrowly escape death. It essentially lets him act beyond his Weak Constitution, where having tuberculosis in life carried into his Saint Graph and presents him with the permanent risk of his illness affecting him even now. ( KARTERIA: * THIS WILL BE NERFED to where he cannot take a deathblow and defy it until his canon point is updated. )
Super Restoration - Kiheitai (Noble Phantasm). An Anti-Army Noble Phantasm—a powerful skill that symbols their historical existence—that boosts its allies by giving them skills and gear based on the current time period Takasugi resides in. Using it can be tricky since it involves figuring out the enemy's weaknesses, picking the right equipment, and tweaking your skills. In short, it's a support-focused power that empowers his allies. In its most powerful form, he can temporarily call forth the strongest army he can think of. But here's the catch: once he uses it, it's a self-destructive ability that quickly drains his life force and puts a heavy strain on him. This means he can only use it for a short time, and activating it again becomes exceedingly tough. Also, the gear and weapons he enhances will be the latest tech from that time period, so the results can really vary. For instance, in the Stone Age, he might summon stone axes, while in the early modern era, he could bring in bombers. It’s a bit of a wild card, making it an imaginative Noble Phantasm where you never really know if it’ll be super strong or not. ( KARTERIA: * THIS WILL BE NERFED to assimilate an army of about 20 to 30 units instead of the reputed max, 300. Using it will exhaust him to the point of possible self-destruction. )

I'm not opposed to shipping with the right amount of chemistry and time in-game, but he is very much the sort to dance around anything more serious. VIOLENCE. Go right ahead, though he's more likely to dodge than engage. Takasugi is a Servant, or a manifestation of a historical figure, with a wide range of abilities that can come into play. DEATH.
